A while back, I did one year of Alexander Technique teacher training. I’d taken private lessons from an Alexander teacher for about two years before that.
One of my favorite things about Alexander work is its emphasis on renewal. We realize that we can’t hold on to a good physical experience forever, so we let it go, and renew our directions.
And then we let it go again. And renew our directions again.
And let go again. And renew again.
At first it’s kind of frustrating. As a beginner, you want to progress to a point where you’re not a beginner anymore.
The secret is, we’re all beginners. Always.
Let it go again.
