respite

As I start to write this post, one of my cats is trying to use my mouse arm for a pillow. He’s looking for a little shut-eye, and he knows my arm is comfy and warm.

To be honest, I need a bit of shut-eye, too. I have a full-time job, and I typically try to write three, sometimes four blog posts every night after work, plus some other personal writing if I have the time. Sometimes I can’t keep up with that kind of schedule.

For the last couple of days I’ve been working on a big project at work, and I’ve been exhausted when I’ve gotten home. Last night I had a naturopath appointment, which meant a period of brief rest in my evening. Tonight I decided to have a catnap before working at the computer. Home is where I find moments of respite from life.

The last photo is of my other cat, who got left behind in my bedroom after my nap. When I took his picture, he was kind of like, What the…? Aren’t we still napping?

Do you need moments of respite from your daily activities? Can you take them?
