be still

meditation cushion

This is a photo of my meditation cushion. Please don’t let it intimidate you. The fact that I own a meditation cushion isn’t any indication of how good a meditator I am. To be honest, I’m awful at meditation. Probably my only saving grace is that I do it every day. Even if only for two minutes. And because I do it every day, I hope to someday realize the benefits of practice.

But for now, I meditate to still myself. To stop. To be present. To be able to hear what needs to be heard.

Silence is not an absence of sound but rather a shifting of attention toward sounds that speak to the soul.

Thomas Moore

What would happen if you were still?
