I love the word invocation. It literally means to call in: for help, for support, for inspiration. It’s not surprising that most religious rituals begin with an invocation – or an invitation – for God to be present. Yet so often when I sit down for private rituals – like my yoga or writing practices – I ignore the need for help outside my own ego. I start bending my body, or stretching my brain, without acknowledging that my soul, or my spirit, or the collective energy, might have something of value to contribute as well.

In your own life, after you dedicate time and space for a special purpose like creating, do you go it alone, or do you call in help? Who do you call on for help? How do you call for help? Do you even need help?
